Several celebrities, including Jamie Lee Curtis, Mandy Moore, and Maria Shriver, were among the tens of thousands of people forced to evacuate their homes due to the massive wildfires spreading near Los Angeles.

The largest fire, which has burned nearly 12,000 acres (4,856 hectares), is centered in Pacific Palisades. This scenic neighborhood, nestled between Santa Monica and Malibu, is home to many Hollywood stars.

Maria Shriver, a journalist and former First Lady of California, described the situation as “heartbreaking, devastating, beyond belief” on social media. She said, “Everything is gone.

Our neighborhood, our restaurants,” while also acknowledging the efforts of the firefighters. However, she stressed that the fire was massive and still out of control.

Actor James Woods also evacuated from Pacific Palisades, calling the scene “an inferno” and revealing that every house around him was on fire. “We were literally in the exact epicenter of the fire,” he said in an interview with CNN.

The wildfires disrupted several Hollywood events, including the Critics Choice Awards, which were postponed for two weeks, and the Oscar nominations announcement, which was delayed by two days.

Strong winds have fueled the blaze, and the narrow, winding streets of the area, combined with mass evacuations, caused major traffic delays. “It is surreal here in Los Angeles,” actor Henry Winkler posted. “It is biblical. So many people have lost everything.”

Oscar-winning actress Jamie Lee Curtis confirmed she was safe but expressed concern for her community and her home, describing the situation as “terrifying” on Instagram.

Mandy Moore, star of the TV series This is Us, shared that she and her family had evacuated due to the flames being so close, adding, “So gutted for the destruction and loss. Don’t know if our place made it.”

Pacific Palisades, known for its median home price of $4.5 million, is also home to the Getty Villa, a popular museum. In addition to the fire in Pacific Palisades, several other wildfires have been reported throughout Los Angeles.

As a result, film production permits were revoked in areas like Pasadena, and filming for shows such as Jimmy Kimmel Live and Grey’s Anatomy was halted.

In Malibu, actor Mark Hamill, best known for his role as Luke Skywalker in Star Wars, described the fire as the most horrific since 1993. Hamill, who evacuated with his wife and dog, recounted passing small fires on both sides of the Pacific Coast Highway during their escape.
