WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new feature that will allow users to create their own AI chatbots, according to recent reports. The feature has been introduced in the latest beta version for Android, and it promises to enhance the user experience by enabling customization of AI-driven companions within the app.
The feature, which is believed to be influenced by Instagram’s personal area, will allow users to design and personalize AI bots based on their needs. Users will be able to provide detailed descriptions of the AI’s personality, purpose, goals, and unique traits. For example, users can choose whether the AI will focus on productivity, entertainment, or personal assistance.
To assist with the creation process, WhatsApp will offer pre-defined templates and examples of popular AI profiles, making it easier for users to get started. The information provided by users will shape the AI’s behavior, enabling it to perform specific tasks such as offering motivation during workouts or helping with tight deadlines.
While the feature has yet to be officially announced, it appears to signal WhatsApp’s entry into the competitive world of AI development. This follows the discovery of a dedicated tab for AI tools in the WhatsApp beta version 2.25.1.24 for Android, which allows users to explore and interact with the new AI bots.
