In a significant step towards revolutionizing agriculture, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz officially launched the Green Pakistan Initiative in Cholistan on Saturday.
The initiative aims to provide farmers with comprehensive agricultural services under one roof, promoting modern farming practices and boosting agricultural development.
During the event, COAS General Munir praised Punjab as Pakistan’s agricultural powerhouse, commending the province’s leadership and farmers for their role in advancing modern agriculture.
He reaffirmed the army’s commitment to supporting the nation’s economic growth and highlighted the success of the Punjab government’s Green Corporate initiative, describing it as a positive sign of progress.

The Green Pakistan Initiative is a collaborative effort between the government and the Pakistan Army to enhance agricultural development. The project includes the inauguration of several key facilities, such as the Green Mall and Service Company, Smart Agri Farm, and the Agricultural Research and Facility Centre.
The Green Mall and Service Company will provide farmers with essential agricultural inputs, such as quality seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides, at discounted rates and delivered directly to their doorsteps. It will also offer affordable rental terms for agricultural machinery, including drones.
The Smart Agri Farm, covering 5,000 acres, will serve as a model for modern farming, featuring advanced irrigation systems and water-efficient practices aimed at reducing costs and increasing crop yields.
The Agricultural Research and Facility Centre will offer comprehensive research tools, including soil testing and laboratory services, and collaborate with agricultural institutions across the country.
Addressing the audience, CM Maryam Nawaz emphasized that agricultural growth is crucial for both farmers’ prosperity and the overall development of Pakistan.
She described the Green Pakistan Initiative as a revolutionary step in modernizing the country’s agricultural sector. The CM also underscored agriculture’s vital role as Pakistan’s economic lifeline.
During the ceremony, CM Nawaz distributed land allotment letters to the families of martyrs and individuals injured in the war, further symbolizing the government’s commitment to supporting its people.
She expressed admiration for the Green Pakistan Initiative’s efforts to introduce cutting-edge agricultural practices to the country.
