High in the mountains in the Kurram region of Pakistan. Fierce battles can become more intense. The valley, which is divided into upper, middle, and lower sections, is a remarkable place.Â
At first glance, Parachinar is mostly a Shia town. which is inhabited by the Turi Bangash population. But there are different people in the nearby mountains: Sunni groups, and their presence often causes tension.
This is not a new problem. Over the years, anger turned into horrifying violence. The causes of this war started a long time ago the Iranian revolution, the influx of Sunni Afghan refugees, the abundance of weapons that came to the region during the Afghan war, all those activities turned out to be dangerous. A lot of results? History of battles between various religious groups Especially the horrifying events of 2007.
That year Parachinar became a battlefield. More than 3,000 people have died, 50 villages have been burned, and hundreds have been forced to abandon their homes. The road to Parachinar is closed. People had to pass through Kabul, Afghanistan, to return home. This horrifying situation is repeated over and over again. It shows how easily peace can be lost.
Professor Jameel Kazmi heads the college in Parachinar. It recalls a time when Shiites and Sunnis lived together in peace. “Brothers,” he said, sadly recalling the past. But secret plans and lies cause problems and cause neighbors to quarrel.
The real problem is complex, said Malik Mahmoud Ali Jan of the Kurram Peace Committee. Land disputes, which government groups have long been unable to help, have worsened. Conflicts over water, trees and roads have led to fighting between different religious groups. This is the sad result of massive government assistance.
Simple truth That is, Khurram’s future is uncertain. The government’s failure to maintain order has created a dangerous situation that is ready to explode again. The question is, can peace be achieved before more violence takes place?
