Hina Khan, the actress famous for portraying the protagonist in the Indian TV series Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer in June of the previous year. Since then, she has been candidly sharing her journey of battling the illness and its effects on both her personal and professional life.
In a recent interview with an Indian media outlet, Hina opened up about how her cancer diagnosis affected her career, revealing that she had to forgo two projects due to her declining health. She explained, “There were a couple of projects I was supposed to start, but after discussions, we made the decision.

This illness isn’t something that gets cured in just 2-3 months; it could take a year or more. People have deadlines, so they had to replace me. It was difficult for them, but it was okay. My health had to come first. At that time, getting better was the priority, and though it initially upset me, it no longer bothers me.”
The actress also mentioned that the release of her upcoming film Country of Blind was delayed because of her health struggles, as it premiered abroad before its Indian release. Additionally, her web show Griha Laxmi, which was set to release in October, was also pushed back. “This major pause in my career was all because of my health,” she acknowledged.
Reflecting on the moment she was diagnosed, Hina recalled not speaking a word in response. She expressed pride in how she handled the news, saying, “I’m proud that I quickly decided not to dwell on it. Crying over this wasn’t going to define my life. I chose to live it as usual and fight through it. I’m happy I didn’t let such huge news consume me.”
