US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has stated that Donald Trump’s efforts to negotiate a peace deal are “certainly not a betrayal” of Ukrainian soldiers. He emphasized the importance of increasing Nato’s defense spending.
Meanwhile, British Defense Secretary John Healey reiterated that any discussions about Ukraine’s future must include Ukraine. Nato official Mark Rutte stressed that any peace agreement should guarantee Russia won’t attempt to annex more Ukrainian territory.

However, cracks are appearing in Nato’s united stance, with Rutte working to uphold the alliance’s credibility, according to BBC defense correspondent Jonathan Beale.
